Over a 40-year career in law, Matt White has earned his reputation as an experienced and talented trial lawyer and mediator. In addition to his primary practice in personal injury cases, Matt also has extensive experience in a wider variety of civil litigation matters, including business disputes and employment law.

He lectures often for lawyers and law students on trial practice, ethics, and settlement skills. He has given presentations for U.C. College of the Law, San Francisco, Lorman Educational Seminars, the Marin County Bar Association, the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association, and the Marin County Courts. Matt has been an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco School of Law, teaching courses on Mediation and on Civil Procedure, since 2012. He co-authored, with Judge Lynn Duryee, Mastering Mediation, a practical manual for advanced mediators (West/Thomson Reuters 2012).

As a panelist with Resolution Remedies, Matt is frequently appointed by the courts and by other lawyers throughout the Bay Area to serve as a mediator, arbitrator, and discovery referee. He has served as judge pro tem in the San Francisco and Marin County courts for over 20 years.

Matt has held every leadership position of the Marin County Bar Association, including election as President. He was the president of the Marin Trial Lawyers Association and of the Inns of Court for Marin, Sonoma, and Napa counties. Since 1982 he has held an A-V rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating available for an attorney. For each of the past 18 years, Matt has been recognized as a Northern California “Super Lawyer.”

Matt is past Chair of the Marin County Human Rights Commission. He has served as an officer and on the Board of Directors for numerous other nonprofit organizations, including the Legal Self-Help Center of Marin, the Marin Justice Center, Alternative Defenders, Inc., Association of Marin Latino Attorneys, and Spectrum LGBT Center (board president, 2010-2011).
